Read this story. Some remarks as a reader, and as a person having no skills to write anything that makes sense. This is brilliant writing.
Kudos to you!
However, couple of questions came after finishing this.
1. Would an Assistant Collector use such language to convey his innermost feelings to a crowd of small children to adults?
2. How can a person who accomplished so much in life behave and utter emotions like a child?
3. Feelings of a middle-bencher, got it. But, no everyone in first bench is happy to sit where they are… same goes to last benchers…
My take – being a Sub-Collector, his words should have been motivating, instead of admonishing the system and insulting the people who gathered to give him recognition. It feels like the Sub-Collector came with just one mindset – express his frustration of being a middle-bencher… you could’ve done it differently… and the people who commented… Guys and Girls… how would you feel if you sat among the crowd where a young, dynamic and accomplished man who you all look up to gives such a silly and degratory lecture… yes, some of you might enjoy it because all of us have some bad experience as kids, but not all.
This is a brilliant take on one’s innermost feelings, I agree. But, should never be explained in such language, at least not in front of a crowd like described here.
It should’ve been delivered in a positive light, instead of admonishing one.
