ഒരു ആഴ്ചയ്ക്ക് ശേഷം
ബിന്ദുവിന്റെ ജോലിയുടെ ആദ്യ ദിവസം.
അവൾ പതിവുപോലെ ലളിതമായ സാരി ധരിച്ച് Amal-ന്റെ കാബിനിൽ കടന്നു വന്നു.
അമൽ നേരെ പറഞ്ഞു —
“Bindhu, I’ll be honest. Presentation matters here. You’re my secretary — clients see you first before they see me. We need to work on your look.”
അവളുടെ കണ്ണുകളിൽ ചെറിയൊരു വിഷമം.
“Sir, I understand… but ഇപ്പോൾ എന്റെ സാമ്പത്തിക സാഹചര്യം… new wardrobe afford ചെയ്യാൻ കഴിയില്ല.”
അമൽ എഴുന്നേറ്റ് —
“Come with me. We’re fixing this right now.”
ആ ദിവസം ഉച്ചയ്ക്ക്, Amal-ന്റെ ബ്ലാക്ക് മേഴ്സ്ഡേസ് , Marine Drive-വഴി, ഒരു പ്രശസ്ത stylist-ന്റെ boutique-ിലേക്ക്.
ബിന്ദുവിന് Luxury car -ൽ ആദ്യ യാത്ര. അവൾ അല്പം ആശങ്കയോടെയും കൗതുകത്തോടെയും കാറിൽ ഇരുന്നു
സ്റ്റൈലിസ്റ് അവളെ നോക്കി — “We’ll transform her.”
അടുത്ത രണ്ട് മണിക്കൂർ —
Hair cut & style, soft makeup, pearl earrings, heels, elegant cotton sarees with perfect blouses.
Mirror-ൽ താനെത്തന്നെ കണ്ടപ്പോൾ, ബിന്ദു അല്പം നിശ്ചലമായി നിന്നു.
“Is this really me…?” — അവളുടെ ശബ്ദം മൃദുവായി.
അമൽ, ഒരു ചെറിയ പുഞ്ചിരിയോടെ —
“This suits you. Now you look like the woman who can handle my office… and my clients.”
ബിന്ദു, കണ്ണുകളിൽ നന്ദിയോടെ —
“Thank you, sir… for believing in me.”
ഇങ്ങനെ, Interview-ൽ കണ്ട വിഷാദമുഖം, Amal-ന്റെ കൈപിടുത്തത്തിൽ, ഒരു ആത്മവിശ്വാസമുള്ള professional look-ിലേക്ക് മാറി.
