After his fifty-third failed interview, Vinod sits on a bench at Trivandrum bus stand with nothing left but worry. Then a voice from college finds him — Nivedita, in a silk saree, married, back from abroad for one day of paperwork, and too sick to face a public toilet. They take the last room in a three-star hotel. Twenty-four hours. No spare clothes. A towel, an AC, and a blanket that is not big enough for the heat between them.

What begins as help becomes a night that will not end — whiskey, a sleeping man, a room boy at the door, and a body that keeps wanting more. By morning the interviews are forgotten. Outside, the city wakes. Inside, her desire has not gone still.
